The first train went over the newly constructed Loyalsock Creek Bridge in Lycoming County, PA this morning. Jeff Stover, Executive Director, SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority, issued the following:
I am pleased to report the first train went over the Lycoming Valley’s
(LVRR) Loyalsock Creek Bridge at 11:35 this morning. As expected, all is well.
We will do more later, but I must first
congratulate John Conrad and his Keller Engineering team for designing such a beautiful and, of course, functional bridge. Also, many thanks to Paul Jannotti and his team for doing some fairly complicated track work design to accommodate the new structure. There is no doubt in my mind that our consultant team is world class. We could not have gotten a better product had the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority (JRA) spent twice as much.
It is great that we had a superb local contractor, G. O. Hawbaker, build this
marvelous structure. They were supported by High Steel and Kinsley Construction. The trackwork was done by KW Reese to a high standard. In fact, the bridge is virtually an all-Pennsylvania structure.
I want to personally thank George Fury of the JRA staff who was involved with this bridge project at the beginning, when the first part of the roadbed was washed away in the torrential rains of November 2011.
There are many more to thank, including the LVRR team, but I want to get this news out as soon as possible.
The new bridge is testament to the fine work of the JRA Board. Thank you gentlemen for your leadership. I think the JRA is able to build partnerships with those in both the private and public sectors to deliver extraordinary economic development investments.
